In this policy, the words we, us and our refer to Mokine Finance. We are committed to protecting your personal information and handling it in a way that is open, transparent and secure.

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles, Part IIIA of the Privacy Act, and the Privacy Credit Reporting Code.

If you apply for finance, we may also collect information about your dependants, living situation, employment, income and expenses.

Credit related information

Credit related information includes your repayment history, credit limits, defaults, financial hardship arrangements, credit applications, information about court proceedings and insolvency information.
It may also include credit eligibility information which is information we receive from a credit reporting body.

4. How we collect information

We usually collect information directly from you when you contact us, complete an application, use our website, or speak with us.
We may also collect information from
• public sources such as social media or public registers
• third parties including employers, referees, insurers, brokers, or credit reporting bodies

When you use our website, we may collect information such as your IP address, device information, date and time of visits and activity on the site.

5. Why we collect your information

We collect personal and credit related information for the following purposes
• to assess your finance application
• to verify your identity
• to arrange and manage finance
• to manage our risk and meet our legal obligations
• to communicate with you
• to provide customer service
• to offer you products or services we believe may be relevant to you

If you do not wish to receive marketing messages, you can opt out at any time by contacting us or using the unsubscribe option in our emails.

6. When we disclose your information

Your information may be shared with
• lenders, funders and other intermediaries involved in arranging finance
• service providers involved in printing, mailing, technology, data storage and customer service
• lenders mortgage insurers and trade insurers
• brokers, accountants, lawyers and anyone who represents you
• external auditors, insurers and reinsurers
• claims investigators, assessors and government or law enforcement agencies
• investors, advisers, trustees and rating agencies that have an interest in your finance
• other financial institutions where a mistaken payment or related matter needs to be resolved

We only share your information when
• it is necessary for the purpose for which the information was collected
• we are required or authorised by law
• you have provided consent
• we believe the receiving party has appropriate privacy protections in place

Some of our service providers may be located outside Australia, including the Philippines.
When information is sent overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles and that security measures are in place.

7. How we store and protect your information

We store personal information in secure electronic systems and in some cases in paper form.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access or disclosure.
Information is protected through access controls, secure systems and regular monitoring.

8. Access to your information

You may request access to the personal or credit related information we hold about you.
We may charge a fee to cover the cost of retrieving the information.
We aim to respond to requests within seven days and provide the information within a reasonable time.

There are some situations where we may not be able to provide access. If that occurs, we will provide an explanation.

9. Correcting your information

If any information we hold is incorrect, incomplete or out of date, you can ask us to correct it.
We will investigate and respond to your request within a reasonable time.
If we refuse to correct information, we will explain why.

10. Doing business without identifying you

In some situations, you can deal with us anonymously or by using a pseudonym.
This applies to general enquiries where your identity is not required.

11. Sensitive information

We only collect sensitive information such as health details with your consent and only when it is necessary, for example, if you apply for certain insurance products.
